B.O.S. 2007 It’S HERE!

The Bushwick Open Studios and Art Festival is finally here! The forecast is a cool 85° with a low of 66°, no rain and a ton of art! Hundreds of artists are participating so come join us for a weekend of art, music, performance, food, community and fun!

Bushwick Open Studios is a self-organized art festival where anyone and everyone in the community is welcome to participate by presenting art work, organizing activities or by helping produce the event. The purpose is to create an open and inclusive event that benefits the entire community by sharing artistic projects and encouraging community interaction and dialogue. Our sponsors are local businesses, our staff is volunteers and we are all about Bushwick.

HOW IT WORKS
Neighborhood artists will open their studios Saturday June 2nd and Sunday the 3rd from 12 to 7pm. Hundreds of artists will be showing work in their own studios and in group shows at venues in the neighborhood. There will also be dozens of artist-organized events throughout the weekend.

When you first arrive in Bushwick, make your way to B.O.S. "Hubs" near each subway stop -- visitors can go to the Hubs to find the B.O.S. Map and Program, other goodies and helpful volunteers to answer questions or offer advice. Don't worry if you're not familiar with the neighborhood! After visiting a hub, you will be ready to spread out and explore the area' s studios, events and businesses by following the map and directions spray-chalked on the streets of Bushwick. (Subway stops with hubs are listed at the bottom of this page and are marked on the B.O.S. Festival Map)

In addition to checking out the Open Studios and events in the neighborhood, make sure you don’t miss out on the B.O.S. Festival Events!

FRIDAY NIGHT JUNE 1, 2007
The Bushwick Starr will kick off the festival with the "HotBox" theater and music showcase. There will also be a number of other events featuring art, music and party style activities at various other spaces around the neighborhood that night.

SATURDAY JUNE 2, 2007
Starts with the interactive B.O.S. Art Parade departing form from McKibbin St at 11am and winding its way to Maria Hernandez Park and the B.O.S. Public Showcase. After the Showcase, you can head over to Ad Hoc Art to join up with the Bushwick Then and Now Walking Tour (tours depart at 3 and 5pm), or just strike out on your own to explore the Festival.

As the perfect end to the first day of the Festival, hundreds of artists and visitors will gather at the massive Cabaret and ¡Art Spectacular! on Saturday night. Beginning at 8pm sharp, this event will be a showcase of local talent like you've never seen, featuring clowns, acrobatics, carnies and jugglers, followed by seven bands playing both indoors and outdoors, other performances and art works of various sorts, video projection, and participatory activities including the Goody of Boswijck Pageant. Free admission! Food and beer at the block party! 8pm-2am
The Nutroaster - 119 & 120 Ingraham St. (See Location) between Porter St. and Knickerbocker Ave.

SUNDAY JUNE 3, 2007
Think you’re done? Think again! There’s no way you can see everything Bushwick has to offer in just one day, which is why there are a ton of events and yet more Open Studios on Sunday. After another great day of art and fun, come unwind at the B.O.S. Closing BBQ, and Film/Video Showcase at Collision Machine (97 Wykoff 3rd FL), starting at 6pm.

Hope to see you in Bushwick this weekend!
