Bushwick Open Studios ‘08 was hot– and we don’t just mean the weather! A great big thank you to all of the participants, sponsors, and everyone who came out and braved that crazy heatwave to enjoy the festival- we couldn’t have done it without you!
In order to help us out with next year’s festival planning, we’d love it if you, as a BOS 08 participant (artist or attendee) would take a small survey about your personal experience with the event. Your feedback is important to us, and will give us a chance to make next year’s festival even better.
If you have photos of the art, artists or the neighborhood from the BOS ‘08 to share, please consider adding to the Arts in Bushwick/Bushwick Open Studios Flickr Pool! Also check out the tons of photos uploaded by other festivalgoers- a great way to see any studios you might have missed!
For some other perspectives on BOS ‘08 (cause we know it must have been hard to get to all of it):
Overview by Artcal, plus slideshow
So much great coverage of the festival from BushwickBK! Amazingly thorough, and not to be missed!
BOS Music Festival (BushwickBK) plus a ton of youtube videos…
We are already beginning to plan our next event, which will most likely occur in late fall of 2008. As always, we’re searching for new people, new ideas, and support of all kinds! If you’re interested in getting involved, or have proposals to bring to us, we’re open! Just email volunteer@artsinbushwick.org, or come to one of our open meetings.

If you are an artist without a space to show or perform during BOS 08, or you have extra space in your studio or event and are interested in hosting other artists or putting together a group show, we can help! Send your name, email or phone contact, a URL link to some work (if you have it), what you’re looking for, or any specific requirements to openstudios@artsinbushwick.org, and we will list you on the BOS08 Space Sharing (aka Artists Seeking Spaces/Spaces Seeking Artists) page. Check out the page to see what it is all about.
Artists- Please note that we cannot be directly responsible for finding you a space, we are just making a classifieds type listing for you here on our site. We also cannot host any example pictures for you, so please do not email any to us (if you don’t have your own website we suggest hosting the pictures on a free myspace or photobucket page, and sending us the URL link). Thanks and good luck with finding a space!

As some of you may have heard, Arts in Bushwick is involved with a fabulous new project through our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas. It’s called Place & Displaced: Mapping Cultural Vitality for Civic Participation.
Not only will we be collecting information for a cultural map of Bushwick, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint — more on that later — but we are also inviting you (yes, you!) to a series of events that’s happening in conjunction with the project.
The first of these events, ROOM FOR CREATIVITY, is Thursday, March 27th, from 6-9 PM. It’s taking place at Greenbelt (361 Manhattan Ave. ),and will be hosted by Chez Bushwick’s Jonah Bokaer. There will be a panel discussion, film screenings, drinks and snacks, all for FREE! That’s right: free social and intellectual development, free art, and free sustenance, simply RSVP at info@propellergroup.net We’d love for you to be there!
