Arts in Bushwick is proud to be part of an exciting new project though our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas — Place + Displaced: Mapping Cultural Vitality for Civic Participation. Using a broad definition of arts and culture to reflect the diverse range of cultural vitality in our neighborhoods, we will be working in partnership with other arts and community organizations to gather data for a Cultural Vitality map and report focused on Bushwick, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint.

If you are an artist without a space to show or perform during BOS 08, or you have extra space in your studio or event and are interested in hosting other artists or putting together a group show, we can help! Send your name, email or phone contact, a URL link to some work (if you have it), what you’re looking for, or any specific requirements to openstudios@artsinbushwick.org, and we will list you on the BOS08 Space Sharing (aka Artists Seeking Spaces/Spaces Seeking Artists) page. The BOS 2008 PREVIEW / SAMPLE SALE will be held @ LUMENHOUSE May 30th from 7:30 - 10:30pm.

Featuring works by BOS 2008 artists, the benefit will provide an opportunity for artists and their friends, clients, collectors, the general public, and the press to preview a small sample of works exhibited during the Bushwick Open Studios and Arts Festival. 

All artists participating in the showcase will be asked to donate a piece of work for a benefit auction. In exchange, you will receive our undying gratitude, plus a free copy of the benefit catalogue, which will include images of all work in the auction.

Call for Artists:

Bushwick IMPACT (a family center on Central Ave.) seeks a mural artist! We have a fabulous outdoor space that we’re converting into a garden and play area, and there are two large walls to paint. This project is being conducted in partnership with Arts in Bushwick.

The mural artist will work in conjunction with parents, children, and staff at IMPACT to come up with a concept that reflects our views of our community and goals. The artist will be responsible for the ultimate design. ** Previous experience with large-scale mural work absolutely necessary.**

If you would like to be involved with the project in some other capacity, that’s great, too! We also need volunteers for painting days (weekends TBD — we’re looking at the middle to end of May), landscapers, and gardeners.

Arts in Bushwick is currently organizing a music marathon event to be held as part of the Bushwick Open Studios this summer. We need an eclectic mix of bands, singer-songwriters, MC’s, really any genre! There will be a strong concentration of Bushwick-based acts, but anyone can submit.

Please email us a link to your electronic press kit, myspace, or web page, and make sure there are music samples available. Along with your links please tell us a little about yourself

Note – This isn’t the typical booking process. We don’t care if you’ve never played a show in NYC and have 0 draw. Our goal is to give artists exposure.
